Lojas Francas de Portugal is the latest company to join the European Travel Retail Council (ETRC), representing Portugal. Corporate membership was also confirmed from Dubrovnik Airport, representing Croatia, at the last ETRC board meeting in June.
Corporate membership of ETRC allows companies to represent the trade in any European country that does not have a formal trade organisation in place.
The Council now represents 22 EU, European Economic Area and proposed EU accession states. That leaves nine EU member states, mostly from East Europe, without trade representation at European level.
The ETRC said it “continues to work with the industry in these countries to explain the advantages of Council membership, particularly at a time when it is representing the global trade’s interests with the European institutions on the aviation security campaign”.
